Lecture Titles:

Saturday, April 22nd: Yoga & Ayurveda For Women

All are welcome to attend this special lecture presentation that covers a topic overlooked by women in yoga today. Approaching a yoga practice from the standpoint of being a women is very different than for a male. Endocrinology plays a major role in this discussion as well as digestion, both of which are the most critical systems for health, fertility and longevity. A brief review featuring key Ayurvedic perspectives includes anatomy, diet and tradition to take us all on a fascinating journey into understanding wellness by developing new reasoning and discoveries of healing through the lense of Ayurveda. Other major points presented are, postural yoga and the female body, restoration and effective remedies for common disorders associated with the female body.

Sunday, April 23rd: Emotions, Awareness and Integral Yoga

The manas (sensory) mind can be the most unruly aspect of our human existence, so much so, that, it has often been referred to as the "monkey" mind. We all experience a broad gamut of emotions from time to time or during certain planetary periods or even when dealing with family or finances, all of which are conditions of the mind in that we blame or feel that it is the outer circumstance that is responsible for this. The Vedantic teachings refer to vasanas or samskaras. Both of these dictate how we feel and act on a moment to moment basis however according to yoga and ayurveda both of these only reflect a limited or shallow aspect of our mental capacity. Behind these superficial emotions, habits, reactions and behaviors is a super mind or mega field of consciousness that we all can access to feel a more permanent and stable quality of mind. Yoga has many modalities that can help us connect with this domain of consciousness but the practitioner must have discipline, fortitude, courage (fearlessness) and be willing to enforce continuity of effort (abhyasa). This lecture will present the tools, techniques and practices to manifest this higher state of awareness. The Hatha-Tantra traditions have referred to this energy as "kundalini", the Samkhya philosophy makes reference to "mahat" cosmic intelligence and the Hindu teachings refer to Brahman as the energy of creation or consciousness. All of these are terms that represent the One domain of consciousness that exist directly within our physical body in a contained form and yoga presents a practical methodology to unleash its potency in a dynamic but yet integral and wholistic manner that all types of aspirants can embrace.
